I have this very large stainless steel pot that I always use to make pop corn. I always wash it but there seems to be this layer of oil that does not want to scrub off. I want to use this pot to make another dish but I want it to be really clean before I use it! I’ve been using hot water, dish soap and A LOT of elbow grease. I have also boiled water in the pot hoping that the heat will lift the grease and it will just pour out. There was a lot of oil in the water, but the bottom was still dirty. And whenever I have extra space in my dishwasher I throw it in hoping that it’ll do something.Is there tips for cleaning this pot?
yes, it is sticky all over the bottom of the pot…I really wanted to use this large pot to make a big batch of iced tea…but not with all that oil stuck to it…

I know this may seem like an extrememly stupid question, but I have to ask it. I just got a Paula Dean stainless steel pot and pan set with the copper bottom, and it says to dissolve the special coating before the first use in hot water and baking soda. I am just not just if it is on the inside or the outside of the pans! It does not specify. I really hope there is someone out there that can help!

My husband and I were steaming vegetables in a stainless steel pot and apparently didn’t put in enough water. There was a burnt smell and my husband took the pot off the stove.
His plan was to let it all cool till it was cool enough to handle, then take out the vegetables and steamer insert and clean up. He thought putting cold water in the hot pan would just damage the pot.
I thought that leaving the veggies in there would allow them to keep burning and make the smell worse, since I figured some of the smell must be coming from the veggies being seared in the heat. Plus I thought we should cool down the pot because it was burnt. I took the veggies and steamer insert out. In doing so, I did actually burn myself, and when I added cold water to the pot, it did spatter a bit.
Which approach was the better way? Should I have left it all in there until it was cool for safety? Or is it better for the veggies and the pot to take it all apart asap?

I put on three quarts to boil and a few minutes later all the water was gone because the burner got white hot at the end of the spiral and burned through my stainless steel pot. What would cause that to happen, and can I replace that burner element?

Here’s the story that I am sure many people has experiences. I was boiling water on my stainless steel pot for instant noodles, and I went away and forgotten about it. When I came back, the pot was mad hot like a – anyway I will like to know if it o.k to use it to cook my noodles again or I will have to avoid it (throwing it out) ? There are signs of rust-like colors on the base and the inside.
