Lighting my Mother Earth News drip style waste oil heater – (Roger Sanders’ version)

I didn’t use enough gas so it didn’t get hot enough to vaporize the oil and burn the vapors, hence the relight. Plans for this heater were published in Mother Earth News magazine some time in the 80’s but the design was quite complex, and needlessly so. Roger Sanders worked out a lot of the bugs and simplified the design a lot. Here’s a link to his page. www.journeytoforever.org This heater creates a fair amount of soot which is supposedly less harmful than Co2 but it looks bad coming out of the flue. So, since I’m one for appearances, I’m working on a version that burns hot enough to have little or no smoke coming from the flue like this guy here. www.youtube.com Any input is cool as long as you’re not a douchebag about it. Constructive criticism only please. Thanks for watching.

after cleaning my bottled water, i am ready to give out 10 points!?

I have a bottled water dispenser (the kind with a replaceable 5-gallon bottle on top of it and taps for instant boiled and chilled water). After using it for many months I discovered some mineral buildup in the hot water tap that causes clogs.

When I get similar buildup in my kettle, I usually clean it out with vinegar because it’s effective and safe. And so I cleaned my dispenser by pouring vinegar into the tank, then emptying the tank and flushing it out with a 5-gallon bottle of water.

My dispenser is now clean and the taps function good as new, but the vinegar taste still hasn’t gone away. Should I continue flushing, or is there something else I should do?

10 points for best answer… so be kind and helpful please! Cheers

Scale in hot water dispenser?

I have a "Quick&Hot" water dispenser. When I fill a cup with hot water, there are little flecks of something floating around in the water. I assume this is scale from the tank.

Is there a way to get rid of the scale in one of these units? Or, does anyone know of a tankless hot water dispenser that wouldn’t suffer from this?
